Peace and blessing be unto you all, dear brothers and sisters, participants to this virtual Halal conference, the organizers, the speakers, the promoters and most importantly, the listeners and the viewers, the backbone of the conferences. Of course my special thanks to Brother Noor for all the logistical work and to Br Hani for his initiative and keep pushing the buttons on his smart phone to reach out to any one who will respond. What a great job of bringing together an excellent slate of speakers.
In the wake of corona virus, the world has learned quickly, how to adjust to new reality and how to fully utilize the information technology. What Dr. Hani has started as a virtual conference, must go on. We have a lot of talent in our global community, we have subject matter experts in every field. It should not be difficult to invite good speakers.
I was asked, how does IFANCA, the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America carry out inspection in meat plants under current circumstances? We have meat and poultry plants in USA and Canada only. We require the slaughterhouses to hire Muslim Slaughter men. Supervision is done by IFANCA inspectors who are part of the essential services meaning they can visit the plants. We also have closed circuit video monitoring in some plants. Besides, we do not have that many meat or poultry plants. IFANCA's main focus has been on taking the porcine ingredients out of foods and pharma including vaccines. But this is a subject for another time.
About this virtual iHalalConference, I really liked actually loved Dr. Hani's efforts to put it all together, Br. Ihsan's opening remarks, Dr. Riaz's plain truth about state of halal standards and certification, and all other speakers' presentations about their viewpoints on the subject, so beautifully done. May Allah subhanahu wa tasls bless you all and keep you safe. Ameen
